Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a home project often comes with questions. Below you'll find answers to some of the questions I'm most frequently asked about the design process, services, fees, and what it's like to work together.

Q: What is the Dedicated Consultation, and is there a fee?

A: The Dedicated Consultation is the first step for both Full-Service Interior Design and the Furnishing & Design Plan service. During this meeting, we'll discuss your goals, how you live in your home, your design preferences, investment expectations, and the scope of your project. I'll also evaluate the space and gather the information needed to prepare a personalized design proposal.

The consultation fee is $250. If you decide to move forward with your project, this fee will be credited toward your Phase One design fee.

Q: How much does the Comprehensive Design Consultation cost?
A: The Comprehensive Design Consultation is $550 and takes place in your home over approximately two and a half hours. This service is ideal for homeowners who are looking for professional design guidance without committing to a full design package.
Following our consultation, you'll receive the supporting visuals and/or documentation discussed during our meeting, giving you a clear plan and the confidence to move forward on your own.

Q: How much does Full-Service Interior Design cost?
A: Every project is unique, so design fees are customized based on the scope of work, the number of spaces involved, and the level of service required. After our Dedicated Consultation, I'll prepare a personalized proposal outlining the design fee and services recommended specifically for your project.

Q: How much does the Furnishing & Design Plan service cost?
A: Pricing varies depending on the size of the project, the number of rooms, and the level of design support needed. Following the Dedicated Consultation, I'll provide a customized proposal with a design fee tailored to your project.

Q: I'm not sure which service is right for me.
A: That's completely normal. Every project begins differently, and choosing the right level of design support isn't always obvious. If you're unsure which service best fits your needs, feel free to reach out before scheduling a consultation. I'm happy to answer your questions and help point you in the right direction.

Q: I'm not sure what my project investment should be.
A: Many clients begin the process without knowing exactly what their project should cost, and that's perfectly okay. Your investment is something we can discuss before or during the consultation. I'll help you understand what's realistic based on your goals and priorities.
Before moving forward with a design agreement, we'll establish a project investment that aligns with the scope of work so expectations are clear from the start.

Q: Do you work with clients outside of New Jersey?
A: Yes. I work with clients throughout Northern New Jersey and New York City for Full-Service Interior Design. If you're located elsewhere, my Furnishing & Design Plan service allows us to collaborate remotely, bringing a thoughtfully designed space to life no matter where you call home.

Q: Can you work with furniture I already own?
A: Absolutely. Incorporating existing pieces is often one of the best ways to create a home that feels personal and collected. Whenever possible, I'll thoughtfully integrate furnishings or décor you already own into the overall design.

Q: Do I need to have a contractor before we begin?
A: No. If you haven't selected a contractor yet, I can assist with the contractor sourcing and bidding process. If you already have a contractor you'd like to work with, I'm happy to collaborate with them throughout the project.

Q: Can you help with just one room?
A: Yes. Whether you're furnishing a single room, renovating a kitchen, or designing an entire home, every project receives the same thoughtful and personalized approach. My services are not limited to whole-home renovations or new construction.

Q: Do you purchase furnishings on my behalf?
A: For Full-Service Interior Design, I purchase all approved furnishings on your behalf. This allows me to ensure every item is ordered with the correct specifications, coordinate with vendors, manage any issues that arise, and oversee deliveries through installation for a seamless experience.
For the Furnishing & Design Plan, you'll purchase the furnishings yourself. I'll provide a comprehensive shopping list with all the products, specifications, and sources needed to implement the design with confidence and create the space as envisioned.

Q: Can I hire you before construction begins?
A: Absolutely, and I encourage it. Bringing a designer on board before construction begins allows us to develop a complete design plan before pricing and building start. This helps your contractor provide more accurate estimates, reduces unexpected decisions during construction, and minimizes costly change orders, creating a smoother process from beginning to end.
